    Getting Closer!

Thursday, August 30, 2007, 09:26 PM CST [General]

We're getting closer and the excitement is building! In less than 4 weeks and we'll be in KC and at the faire. My daughter is very excited. My son likes to go but the excitement isn't quite the same for him. I know as we get closer he'll be more into it. Actually, Colin is more excited to see his girlfriend. He's 7 and she's 4. They're very cute together.

My husband doesn't dress for the faire but he does like to go. I'm hoping to someday get him all dressed up. The group we go with is always in ren garb so I'm thinking he'll feel so left out he'll want to join in the fun. It's probably wishful thinking...

    Sarah's New Dress Progress

Wednesday, August 29, 2007, 01:51 PM CST [General]

Here are pictures of my daughter's new dress (in progress). I just love the fabric and color. Sarah's favorite color is pink and she is very excited about her dress being pink.

Willow, the daughter of my friend, is modeling the dress. Sarah was so funny. I showed her the pictures and she kept insisting it wasn't her dress but Willow's becasue Willow was the one wearing it. That's the mind of a 3 year old.

    Introducing: Robin, Sarah & Colin

Wednesday, August 29, 2007, 01:26 PM CST [General]

My name is Robin and I have two beautiful childrern which, as you can guess, are Sarah (3) and Colin (7). I am married and we live in Omaha, NE.

I've been going to the Rennassance Faire in Kansas City since I was in the 4th grade. I lived there prior to moving to Omaha. It wasn't until recently that I became the ren geek I am now. We have a small faire here in town that's fun.

I always loved going to the faires but until a few years ago I never dressed the part. Growing up I always admired the costumes and wanted to wear them myself but never had the time or talent to put something together.

One of my dearest friend, who lives in KC, started making ren costumes for herself and her daughter. Last year she made costumes for my kids as gift. They loved them! She is now making new ones as the kids have grown.

I purchased my first dress about a year and a half ago. It's a basic peasant dress but I think it is very pretty and fun to wear. I purchased a court dress a year ago. It's heavey, bulky and can get get very hot but I love it. I do have a head piece but my friend gives me a hard time about it. You'll understand when you see the pictures. It is a little goofy.

I don't know how often I'll put out a new blog. Probably as I get new pictures of the wonderful outfits my friend is making. I only go to about 2 faires a year. I would love to go to more and as the kids get older and easier to travel with I hope to do just that.
