Sarah's Pirate Garb - In Progress

Thursday, May 8, 2008, 06:58 PM CST [General]

I got my mother's day present early - a child's dress form! I cound not have come at a better time. Sarah just won't stand still when I'm trying to fit her.

Things are coming along. I'm dedicating a lot of time to sewing this weekend. I'm going to start on the chemice tonight and really want to get it done before the end of the weekend. I just hope I can get this done before Goodgirl and family come to visit!

    Peace...

    The Pink Pirate Is Coming!

Sunday, May 4, 2008, 05:29 PM CST [General]

Yes! The pink pirate is on her way!

It's been an interesting week putting together Sarah's new garb. Originally I had this pretty rose colored material for her bodice but it is so hard to work with. I ended up ditching the whole thing and starting over. I do feel a lot of time has been lost but I still have two weeks to get it done. The new fabric is a light pink that actually works better with the skirts. Sarah's happy and so it mom! I'll post pictures later this week.

I've attached pictures of another project. When I'm not trying to piece together garb I'm making some everyday wear for the kids. Sarah picked out the pretty purple fabric for the sundress. It turned out really nicely and she can't wait to wear it.

I've also added old pictures I found from KCRF. I think the pictures were taken around 1983. So nobody wonders - yes, that's me. There are some fencing pictures and they actually of my parents. There was a time when the Slay the Dragon was made for both kids and adults (it may still be but I never see adults doing it). I remember the day my dad slew the dragon. He won a plaque and he still keeps it in his office. Those were the days.

    Well, Back to sewing...

    Peace to all-

    GPRF

Monday, April 21, 2008, 07:49 PM CST [General]

It was back to the normal today; work, school, daycare. The weekend went by so fast!

We left Omaha on Friday afternoon in the most miserable weather. It rained practically the entire drive. We spent the night with Goodgirl at Caitlin's house. The wee ones didn't stop!

We woke up early on Saturday to head to Wichita. The weather was nothing short of beautiful - a perfect day for the faire! The girls looked so beautiful in their garb and they were really enjoying everything. I have to admit that I felt like the odd one out. I was the only one not dressed in a Venitian. I must acquire one :) It was so great spending the day with old friends and meeting new people. Sarah got a beautiful necklace from the Queen and she was so proud of it. We put it in a special place in her room. We couldn't have asked for a better day.

Caitlin and Goodgirl returned to the faire on Sunday and Sarah and I headed out for our 5 hour drive hime - back to reality.

Next month is the Nebraska Faire. Goodgirl and Willow will be joining us. Our faire is 5 minutes from my house (not 5 hours!). It's a new faire and still small but it will be good to spend the time with friends. We will all be in our pirate garb which will be a lot of fun!

    Peace to all...

    Back from Wichita

Sunday, April 20, 2008, 06:43 PM CST [General]

Well, this will be a short blog. Sarah and I drove back from Wichita today and we are both completely exhausted - but it's well worth it!

Our first faire of the season was wonderful. The wee ones had so much fun (as did the grown-ups).

I'll post tomorrow and share more. I did get some pictures and videos uploaded so check them out if you have a moment.

    Peace to all...

    Two More Days!

Wednesday, April 16, 2008, 05:54 PM CST [General]

In two days, well day after tomorrow actually, my daughter and I will be heading to KC then off to Wichita. We are both so excited. Sarah can't wait to see her friends and I can't wait to get out of Omaha and see my friends :)

This is the first trip to the Wichita faire for us. I'm looking forward to meeting some new people and experiencing a different faire. Each faire seems to have their own unique charachteristics. Can you tell I haven't been to many different faires?????

I haven't made much progress this week with sewing. I've been super busy at work and at home trying to get everything ready for the trip this weekend.

I look forward to seeing those who will be there this weekend and I'll have lots of picture to share when I get home.
